Always at the Beginning

The beginning, that is where we all start. Every moment of our existence on this earth is a beginning of some sort.

Blogging was never part of my business plan it scares the crap out of me, but after doing some research I have discovered that it is beneficial to potential clients for them to get to know me as an artist. See I'm not a writer (my daughter and sister are good at that) I get to be the artist. I get to tell stories with acrylic paints, charcoal, pastels, and watercolor.

OK so here we are at my beginning. Sketching as a 11 year old was my first attempt at art. I have to say I wasn't that bad but I didn't get the encouragement from my family to keep going so I let the impulse go. It was many years later when I was in my early 20's that I decided to give it another shot. Well that didn't go as I had hoped for either. I produced a few portraits and a couple of mountain landscapes scenes in pen and ink, pencil and acrylic. I then took them to an art instructor to critique my work. I was flat told, "Keep your day job, you have no talent". I did just that, I quit. Since I have never taken any art classes or had any formal training in art, I took them at their word. As time went on I found myself in need of a creativity outlet. I worked an an elementary school for 25 years mostly as the school Librarian. I loved to decorate and do sketches for the walls and bulletin boards. It was then that figured I would give painting and sketching one more shot. This time it took hold and lead me down a new path. A New Beginning.
